In response to the story REPORTAGE carried yesterday from credible and inside source, titled “SCANDAL: NDLEA top command took over N150m to cover biggest tramadol burst, ” the spokesman for the NDLEA has written to say nothing in the story is true, which is a lie. This is his response below.
” It’s a big lie and total fabrication. Everything in the report has no single fact. The case is handled by the headquarters and not Lagos command.
“You can run with this and in addition, it’s a matter closely monitored by the Chairman with daily briefings on every turn of the investigation. It’s in public domain already that the agency last week obtained a court order to detain the suspect for two weeks and we are using that window to deepen our investigation..

IT is either Mr. Femi Babafemi is not aware of what is happening inside the NDLEA or he is covering up mishap in the organisation in which he is their image maker, but to accuse a credible media outfit who work hard to get information and claim their information is outright lie is the lowest anyone can go in this profession. Mr. Femi Babafemi should go and do his homework before hastily putting information out in the name of defending his organisation.
We are aware of the great job the NDLEA boss, Buba Marwa, has been doing. But this job cannot succeed if the NDLEA cover up for corrupt members of their own organisation and make a spectacle of arresting others. To fight corruption one must begin at home as they say, Charity begins at home. And the fact is that the NDLEA has it own internal corruption problem which every Nigerian knows about. This is one of such and it is outright hypocrisy for the NDLEA to not make it public.
The Lagos State Command-Operations took over N150m from negotiation over the tramadol burst in Lagos. The case is ungoing internally. This is not fabrication. The NDLEA spokesman should go and find out and come and tell the public the real story since it appears he doesn’t know what’s happening or perhaps he knows.
