In his recent press briefing Lagos State Commission of Police Abiodun Alaba said in December, complaints were received concerning threat to life and monitoring of movement from a telephone number 08165270517.
He added that investigation led to the arrest of one Smart Richard.
“Smart is an ex-convict who had served a five-year jail term at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre. The suspect identified one Kingsley Richard, currently serving a jail term at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre as his associate.
“Further investigation revealed that while Smart collated telephone numbers and operated an online wallet account through which they collected their blackmail money, Richard, while still in prison, sent the threat messages and made threat calls to the collated numbers.
“The command is currently working with the Nigeria Correctional Service towards extending investigations to Kingsley Richard,” Alabi said.
