If only you knew the man Peter Obi, you’d never worry about our stolen mandate, let me tell you a short story. In 2014, the 177 traditional rulers in Anambra came together and conferred on Peter Obi the chieftaincy title ‘Okwute’, for a reason, here’s why. A Thread

Of all the names they could have chosen, why was ‘the rock’ the one they picked? Now let’s go back to 11 years earlier when Peter Obi ran in the 2003 gubernatorial elections with his new party APGA which he convincingly won, but was robbed by the ruling party PDP, a similar

scenario if not a replica of how he has just been robbed by his ‘new’ Labour Party by a ruling party, many people adviced him to accept defeat and not to fight to cabal in Anambra and Abuja who had rigged the election for their preferred candidate.

He would smile and in his faint voice and remind them that no matter what it’d take and how long, he’d get back his mandate because he clearly won. For the next 3 years, 3 whole years, the case went on and finally in March 2006 he was declared winner by the Appeal Court.

You think a man who pursued his mandate for 3 years will be denied this mandate which was even more glaring than that of 2003? think again! Now let’s continue the story. 3 months after he became governor, he was impeached because he wouldn’t play ball with the cabal, so they used the state House of Assembly to conjour up accusations which led to an impeachment, he went to court and won, again. In 2007, gubernatorial elections were fraudulently conducted in Anambra despite him serving only 11 months as governor, Andy Uba, a part of the cabal won.Peter Obi stepped aside because he is not a man of trouble, he went to the courts and got back a court injunction that mandated him to serve out the remainder of his tenure, that makes it victory number 3 and 0 loss for the cabal.

Peter Obi went on the become the first ever governor of Anambra state to serve 2 full tenure, 3 predecessors before him couldn’t. By the time he left office, the traditional rulers thought of a befitting title to give this very calm, yet stubborn man.

They arrived at Okwute, ‘the rock’, because he stood firm answer fought for what was not just his, but for what was fair, just, and right. Don’t fret my people, our mandate shall never be stolen!
