The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied devaluing the naira to N631 to the dollar from N461.6.
Recall earlier, a report which emanated from Daily Trust stated that following the CBN governor Emefiele’s meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja over the issue of the exchange rate, the apex bank decided to devalue the nation’s currency.
The report added that at the resumption of the weekly bidding for foreign exchange, the apex bank sold the spot rate to banks on behalf of their customers at N631 to a dollar and most bidders got the full amount they requested.
However, in a reaction to the development on Thursday, June 1, 2023, via Twitter, the CBN denied devaluing the naira.
Checks as of the time of writing this report showed that the naira is N461.293 per dollar.
