Community tells Police Commissioner to caution DPO over handling of land tussle
Residents of the Doko community in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State have appealed to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, to caution the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the police station in the community, CSP Yusuf Wara, over his alleged biased involvement in the land tussle between two ruling houses in the area.
The residents made the appeal in a petition they addressed to the CP in Minna, the state capital.
They alleged that the activities of the DPO in the area were capable of triggering an awaiting conflagration which no one could foretell its end and disastrous consequences.
They said it was worrisome that the DPO could take sides with a group that had lost in various courts of the land and acted in a manner to make the much-cherished peace in Doko community a mirage.
“The DPO, upon resuming duty, pledged to himself to resolve the lingering crisis over the disputed Gudanko Fadama and Upland farms whose ownership has been decided by the courts in favour of Mohammed Gana Kpanje ruling house”.
