Suspended EFCC Chairman Bawa in DSS custody

Suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been invited by the Department of State Services.

Mr Bawa arrived a little while ago, according to the DSS.

On its Twitter handle, the ‘secret’ police stated that the invitation refers to investigative activity involving him but provided no further explanation.

Suspended Indefinitely

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the indefinite suspension from office of Mr Bawa, as the Chairman of the EFCC, to allow for “proper investigation into his conduct while in office.”

This follows ‘weighty allegations’ of abuse of office levelled against him, according to a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Wednesday.

Mr Bawa was directed to immediately handover to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman pending the conclusion of the investigation. the statement added.
