Ebonyi Govt Set to Build Houses for Traditional Rulers

As commissioner charges the leaders and stakeholders to relate to the government some philanthropists in their areas for state recognition.

The government of Ebonyi State under His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has announced its readiness to construct a befitting duplex for each of the traditional rulers in Ebonyi State. The gesture is in fulfilment of the promises Chief Nwifuru made to the traditional rulers during the 2023 gubernatorial electioneering campaign in the state.

The Honourable Commissioner for Rural Development, Ebonyi State,Barr Chief Collins Ikeuwa Omebe made the announcement at 135, Ezxamgbo, the headquarters of Ohaukwu Local Government Area during the ministry’s Community Needs Assessment Tour to identify the basic needs of the people.

The Commissioner while interacting with the leaders and traditional rulers of Ohaukwu also charged the leaders to forward to the government through his office the names of good spirited individuals and philanthropists who have individually and selflessly engaged the people and the society in humanitarian services for state honour and recognition during the state November annual award ceremony.

Chief Omebe said that his visit to the LGA was aimed at familiarising himself and interact with the people as well as getting first class information on the basic needs of the people with a view to advising the state governor for consideration, approval and implementations.

The commissioner who eulogized the state governor for the feat achieved in two months in office and for creating the Ministry of Rural Development informed the people of Ohaukwu that the ministry organizes and promotes Community Development Association to enhance rural infrastructure such as electrification, water, market and others.

Chief Omebe stressed that the ministry will also liaise and assist other development agencies within and outside the state to construct roads, and enhance the productive strength of the sociopolitical and economic viability of the rural people through the intervention of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency SMEDA among other partners. He therefore, requested the people’s cooperation with the government to develop their areas.

Barr Collins Omebe commended the people of Ohaukwu for their warm reception and the solidarity road match they embarked on few days ago in honour of Gov Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, describing the gesture as excellent and directed them to put together in writing their basic needs and send the list to his office.

the Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon Chinedu Onah, HRH Eze Obiora Martins Odono, The Leader of Forum of Town Union Presidents in Ohaukwu LGA, Hon Chief Simon Okengwu, Eze Godwin Ogba, the Councilor, Umu Ogara Ameji Ward, Hon Oge Uchenna Charles,, Chief Anthony Odanwu, the Coordinator of the People Living With Disability in Ohaukwu, Ekpeteri Ifeanyi, Awoke Godwin Eze and others thanked Chief Nwifuru for his achievement so far in office, describing his government as people oriented.

The people solicitated the governor’s intervention in road construction, school infrastructure, rural electrification, water as well as the waiver to employ the people of Ohaukwu into the LG civil service.

It is still the Community Needs Assessment Tour of the State Ministry of Rural Development, Ebonyi State, a tour to identify with the basic needs of the people at the grassroots.
