Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has pledged to swiftly resolve the land litigations obstructing power transmission projects in the state. During a recent meeting with the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Enugu Region, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to driving the state’s industrial revolution by addressing these impediments.
Governor Mbah emphasized the importance of a stable power supply for attracting global investors and boosting the state’s economy through industrialization. He expressed his dedication to derisking investment by improving the ease of doing business and seizing the opportunity presented by TCN to increase Enugu’s megawatt capacity.
In his statement, Governor Mbah assured that the state government would engage with host communities and other parties involved in legal disputes with the TCN to expedite the resolution of these issues outside the courtroom. He stressed the significance of resolving these disputes to attract industries and create a private sector-driven economy in the state.
Engr. Emmanuel Akpa, the General Manager of TCN, highlighted the company’s efforts to enhance electricity supply in Enugu. He mentioned the installation of a 150MVA 330/132/33KV power transformer and the completion of the 2x60MVA 132/33KV substation at 9th Mile. Additionally, TCN is building a mobile substation near Nike Lake to further augment power supply.
Engr. Akpa also raised concerns about challenges faced by TCN in the state, including litigation over right-of-way and vandalism. He appealed to Governor Mbah for intervention in resolving these issues to ensure a reliable power transmission network in Enugu.
