Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command have rescued kidnap victims in the Bwari Area Council and reunited them with their families.
The victims were abducted on January 2, after hoodlums struck the Zuma 1 area in Bwari Area Council.
The Guardian learnt that their rescue followed collaboration with the police command’s anti-kidnapping squad and troops of the Nigerian Army.
Confirming the development, yesterday, spokesperson for the command, Josephine Adeh, said operatives successfully rescued the victims around Kajuru forest in Kaduna State at about 11:30 p.m.
Responding, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, extolled the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, for deployment of the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad. He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining robust security deployment in the area and other parts of the FCT.
Meanwhile, police operatives in Ogun State have intensified efforts to recover a Toyota Camry car (also known as ‘Muscle’) with registration number 269JH Lagos.
The vehicle was reported stolen from its owner by hoodlums in the Sagamu area of the state.
The Guardian learnt that the vehicle was stolen on January 20, at about 10:40 p.m., around Awomosu Kara while the owner was entering his house.
Confirming the development, yesterday, the spokesperson for Ogun State police command, SP Omolola Odutola, said the Divisional Police Officer, Sagamu, received a report of the armed robbery attack on Saturday.
She said: “The complainant further narrated that he was threatened with a gun and was physically assaulted during the incident, and that, vital documents and valuables were taken away.”
“Responding swiftly to the incident by the anti-robbery team, the area was cordoned off and other check points contacted with information about the stolen vehicle.
“Additionally, the communication department has alerted other divisions in the state to initiate an aggressive stop and search operation that will facilitate recovery of the stolen vehicle.”
Odutola added: “Members of the public and residents of Ogun State are, hereby, notified to contact the nearest police station for assistance by volunteering a clue to the police that could lead to recovery of the stolen vehicle.”
