Immediate departure from ECOWAS confirmed, Ouagadougou refuses the organization’s diktat Burkina Faso has reaffirmed its decision to leave ECOWAS without delay, rejecting the one-year deadline imposed by the organization. In a scathing note addressed to ECOWAS, the Burkinabè government denounces the flagrant violations of the fundamental texts of the organization by ECOWAS. Burkina Faso particularly criticizes the illegal and inhumane economic sanctions imposed on Mali and itself, as well as the organization’s constant interference in the internal affairs of member countries.
