As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to commence the collation of results from Saturday’s Edo State governorship election, security has been significantly tightened around its secretariat.

The security personnel who completely barricaded the Aduwawa dual carriageway also deployed patrol dogs in various strategic positions.
One was deployed at the INEC gate and another one was deployed inside INEC office while another one was seen at Ramat Park around where Aduwawa Road was barricaded.
The intensified security measures are designed to protect the integrity and facilitate the smooth completion of the result collation process.
SaharaReporters reported earlier on Sunday that Governor Goodwin Obaseki of Edo State was escorted out of the premises of the INEC office in Benin City, following a confrontation involving members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when Obaseki went to the office.
Tensions flared as APC members, led by the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Dennis Idahosa, vocally protested against Obaseki’s presence.
