In response to our esteemed Friend, Barr Emejulu, who led an Igbo’s delegation on a visit and fact-finding mission on Monday, November 25, 2024, to the residence of former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in Ota Farm, Ogun State regarding Obasanjo’s purported interest in the Ohanaeze 2025 elections and his behind-the-scenes efforts to secure support for his favored presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, I say: “Your visit to Obasanjo has provided the crucial confirmation we’ve been anticipating regarding his involvement in the Ohanaeze 2025 elections. Prior intelligence suggested that his ongoing meetings with three Southeast Governors throughout 2024 were part of a strategy to sway them into supporting an Ndoki individual from Abia State for the position of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in January 2025, rather than someone from Rivers State, similar to how Meyatti Allah influenced the election of a late factional President General from Imo State in January 2021.
Ndigbo must rise to reject and thwart these external manipulations in the governance of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the formation of new leadership in 2025. We are issuing a warning to Ndigbo to protect Ohanaeze Ndigbo from meddling outsiders and their collaborators among the three Southeast Governors, who are scheming to impose new leadership with ulterior motives that primarily serve their own interests, particularly in relation to supporting the presidential ambitions of a former Igbo governor and a current Southeast governor’s vice-presidential aspirations.
Ndigbo have the ability to conduct an independent, free, and fair Ohanaeze election by January 2025 without interference from the Southeast Governors. Under the leadership of the late Ambassador Raph Uwechue, Ohanaeze thrived, as he effectively silenced the Igbo Governors, independently funded the organization, and restored the Igbos’ trust in Ohanaeze Ndigbo between 2009-2013. Successive President Generals from Ebonyi, Enugu, and factional leaderships in Imo State have been perceived as puppets of the Southeast Governors influenced by external manipulators from the Fulani and Yoruba groups.
It is crucial that Ndigbo awaken from their complacency.
