Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, issued the warning during a press briefing, where he explained the military’s resolve to neutralise all terrorist elements undermining national security.

“From January to December 31, 2024, over 1000 terrorist leaders and commanders, along with their replacements, have been eliminated in our operations,” Buba revealed.

“We assure you that a similar fate awaits others, including Bello Turji.”

The statement comes in response to Turji’s demands and threats, which have raised concerns among residents of Zamfara State.
The military high command also dismissed allegations disputing the effectiveness of its recent airstrikes on Lakurawa, a notorious terrorist enclave, as baseless propaganda.

Buba reaffirmed the military’s commitment to precision strikes and intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.
According to Buba, “Indeed, Bello Turji is merely a dead man walking. It will be insulting to try to join issues and words with a terrorist. Before him, there were other terrorists who boasted that they would deal with security forces. Today they are all taken out. We will do the same with other terrorist leaders like him.

“I am confirming to you that we have buried many of them in the battlefield because that is their date. So the remaining ones, including Bello Turji, are dead men walking.”

Buba addressed those questioning the military’s Christmas Day bombing of the Lakurawas terrorist group’s enclaves and the killing of their collaborators, saying:
“The first casualty of war is the truth. It’s always the truth that suffers first. So, it’s no surprise when terrorists or their supporters spread false narratives about what happened. It would be disrespectful to the military to believe such propaganda.
Please don’t fall for terrorist propaganda. They’re unhappy that we’ve successfully bombed their positions, destroying their ammunition and logistics supplies. This is a war for Nigerians, and we must stand united against their lies.”
