Amid ongoing tensions between Benin and Niger, Beninese Foreign Minister Olushegun Bakari has called for dialogue and transparency, offering an unprecedented initiative to restore trust between the two nations. The minister said: “We propose that the Nigerien military authorities conduct a joint visit to Benin territory with their Beninese counterparts.” This bold proposal aims to dispel accusations made by Niger regarding the presence of foreign military bases on Beninese soil.

Minister Bakari reaffirmed Benin’s commitment to a “calm and peaceful” dialogue with its “brother country”, Niger. He recalled the offer made several weeks ago by President Patrice Talon to organize meetings between the military authorities of the two countries. “Our desire remains unchanged: to establish a calm and peaceful dialogue with our brother country, Niger,” he insisted.

Comment:

Who exactly does Benin think they are fooling? We all know what is going on in the Northern border regions .

Africans demand action from Benin, not words.
