…As Security Operatives Trail Kingpin

In a landmark operation, the Chijioke Ezugwu led-neighborhood watch personnel in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, have foiled a kidnap attempt in Awuzi village, Ogba Nkpologu of the rural council.

The security operatives who were personally led by the council chairman during the rescue operation which lasted between 2:am and 3:30am on Monday, 16th of June, 2025, rescued the kidnap victim, Mrs. Grace Dieke, who owns a public drinking joint in the area.

The kidnap suspects, according to an official information by the SPA on Communication & Strategy to the Local Government Chairman, Solomon Gwiyi, had made away with their victim into the bush, but were unlucky as a tactical team of neighborhood watch personnel, personally led by the council chairman, trailed them to their hideout at Ugwu-ugbene and got three out of the four suspects arrested, while rescuing the victim in the process.

The statement however, explained that while the suspected kidnap kingpin, Ebuka Ngana, aka “Mostcabel” from Amaezike Nkpologu, escaped and is currently at large, the three arrested suspects are: Eze Tochukwu from Umukpaka village of ugebene Ajima, Enejere Tochukwu from Egburu Ugbene village of Ugebene Ajima and Jude Ezugwu from Amaezike Nkpologu, all from Uzo Uwani LGA.

Excerpts from the statement reads: “The suspects were arrested at Ugwu-ugbene in Uzo Uwani local government area in the wee hours of the day, and have been handed over to the police at Ukpabi police division for further investigations.

“This is to us, a very significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in the local council by the Chijioke Ezugwu-led Administration. And this further demonstrates the Chairman’s readiness to flush out criminals from the LGA.”
