Can the Sultan of Sokoto Speak for the Tivs?
Can he speak for the Igalas? The Jukuns?
Can he ever claim to represent the Bachamas, the Higgis, or the Marghis?
Can he speak for the Jabbas, the Katafs, or any other proud indigenous people of the Middle Belt?
Absolutely not.
He is a Fulani – and we must say it plainly – a product of the Fulani establishment that launched the 1802 jihad and whose descendants today continue to shed the blood of our people through coordinated terrorist attacks. The wounds of these invasions are still fresh. The genocide is still ongoing. How dare anyone suggest he represent us?
Let’s not pretend. The Sultan is not just Fulani – he is also a Muslim cleric. He cannot and will never speak for the over 45 million Christians in the Middle Belt who have borne the brunt of religious persecution and targeted killings. His worldview, his loyalties, and his history do not align with ours.
And now Senator Simon Lalong and his cabal want to impose the Sultan as a permanent co-chairman over a National Council meant to represent all traditional rulers across Nigeria? This is not just tone-deaf – it is a provocation.
It is a blatant insult.
Senator Lalong and his sponsors are playing a dangerous game, and they must be called to order immediately.
Where is the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)?
Why is the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) silent?
Enough is enough.
The people of the Middle Belt will not be ruled by proxy.
We will not sit quietly while our identity, our faith, and our dignity are trampled upon.
