A disturbing video has surfaced showing displaced residents of Akụ community in Okigwe now forced to live inside the bush.
According to reports, their ordeal began after the military allegedly set houses ablaze and killed some family members, claiming those affected were informants working with criminals in the area.
On the other hand, the armed groups terrorizing the region are also justifying their own killings. They insist that the people they executed in Akụ, Okigwe, and neighbouring communities were either:
“Saboteurs” of the Biafra struggle,
Members of the Ebubeagu security outfit, or
Some people identified as enemies of Biafra through Afa conducted by their Dibia
Caught between these conflicting forces, innocent villagers have been left homeless, traumatized, and displaced, now struggling to survive in the forests.
This tragic situation underscores the rising insecurity and humanitarian crisis in Akụ Okigwe,Nneato , Umulolo, and other affected communities in Imo and Anambra states, as they continue to bear the heaviest burden of attacks by unknown gunmen.
