Next month (October) will be an important month for Iran’s defense industry. The UN arms embargo (UNSCR 2231’s missile restrictions) on Iran is set to end on October 18, 2023, unless the US or other members of the UN Security Council extend it. However, it is quite clear that Russia and China will veto it. This means that Iran can freely import and export weapons, and countries wishing to purchase Iranian arms can do so on the global market rather than seeking illegal routes. Thus, expect different types of Iranian weapons to appear in different countries and for the Iranian arms industry to expand.
