In the name of plea bargain EFCC
@officialEFCC is using the courts to sentence young men and women to few months or years of imprisonment, with options of fine. Thereby turning them to ex-convicts with their future ruined. Some of these youths don’t know the wider implications of those plea bargain sentences they are receiving through EFCC. But they will learn the hard way when they are ready to be something meaningful to the society, or want to make good use of their lives and careers. The irony of it all is, EFCC is coaxing innocent men and women to agreeing to be (scammers) and to accept crimes they never committed, with a promise of plea bargain and lighter sentences, that carries the option of fine. Or else they will be jailed for a longer period, up to 25/30 years if they go into full trial. They raid young men and women randomly, search their phones to see their chats and emails. Once you have a foreign name on any of your social media accounts, or they see 50/100 dollars gift from anyone to you. You are forced to accept to be a scammer, even without any petition against you of scamming anyone. In some cases, they just accuse you to be a scammer once you have some substantial amount of money in your account. Even if you have all the evidence that it is from crypto dealings, or some online transactions. They will coax you to accept their plea bargain, or face full trial with longer years in prison. It is your words against theirs in court. While some are just innocently forced to accept to be fraudsters, just because EFCC wants to be seen as a hardworking organization. If the legal system in Nigeria is right, or the courts are truly independent, some of these cases, wouldn’t have seen daylight in court. This is a pattern EFCC is using to ruin the lives and careers of many youths. Most especially our southern youths.
