Food self-sufficiency “will be a reality in Burkina Faso,” a local governor predicts a promising agricultural campaign.

The country’s northern region is expected to provide more than 500,000 tonnes of products, according to an official estimate made on October, 11 after the

governor’s visit to two agricultural sites.

Issouf Ouédraogo went to the commune of Ouahigouya to “inquire about the implementation of the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive” launched by the head of state, specifies the governorate’s press release.

According to the forecasts, the visited farm extending over 100 ha “could generate over 40 million CFA francs (about $66,769) in gross revenue.”
