Abati’s ethnic slur: Govt seems to be behind the move to create a divide between Ndigbo and Yorubas/BOG

As an indigenous Lagosian, I am extremely disgusted by the unseemly and most appalling anti-Igbo rhetoric recently blurted out to a global audience on @AriseTV by the once revered  @abati1990.

It would appear that there is a small bit loud minority of hinterland Yoruba people with some prominence that fail to understand or appreciate the COMMERCIAL nature of Lagos, hence their proclivity to keep lobbing the proverbial stone into the market-place in the name of politically motivated ethnic-baiting.

Lagos and the area now known as Lagos State has been an international trading hub for CENTURIES, with trading posts at Èbúté-Ero, Epe, Orimedu, Badagry and even Ikorodu. It was therefore inevitable, with the dawn of the Nigerian state, that a nation as entrepreneurial and business-oriented as the Igbos would gravitate to and settle in the boisterous Lagos.

Their presence for the last century has been beneficial to both the Igbos and Indigenous Lagosians alike. There are no doubt bad eggs on both sides, but OVERALL, the relationship has been in the large part, BENEFICIAL for Lagosians.

It is therefore most irritating for Lagos Indigenes, when Yoruba politicians, and media figures like Abati, who are MOSTLY NOT OF LAGOS EXTRACTION, try to hide under the banner of “Yoruba Nationalism” to primitively whip.up.HATRED and ethnic sentiments against the Igbos in Lagos, claiming that Igbos want to somehow “take over” Lagos State! It would be quite funny, if the consequences could not be potentially quite tragic, as witnessed by the Nigerian Civil War.

It is as if these BUFFOONS (no apologies) want a reprise of that war, which claimed the lives of more than 3 million Igbo people.

None of this will hide the CRIMINALITY and INCOMPETENCE of the current Nigerian government, which appears to be behind this campaign of ethnic hatred, to distract the normally right thinking  Yoruba majority from their disastrous turn at the till.

All Yorubas of goodwill, all OMOLUABIS, must begin to speak up against this ugly andost unYoruba tendency, in order to put a final stop to this insidious, clearly coordinated attempt to paint the accomodating, friendly, warm and HOSPITABLE Yorubas as a nation of insular, inbred bigots.

We are not, and I for one vigorously reject that notion, and disavow the few bigots amongst us as vigorously…
