An S-61 helicopter, registered N703NH and belonging to AFRICOM (United States Africa Command), crashed this Friday, January 10, 2025 in the district of Sèdjè Dénou, located in the commune of Zè, in the south of Benin.
The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m.The helicopter, coming from Parakou , had already encountered a technical failure that had been repaired before the crash. Fortunately, the four crew members on board escaped unharmed .
According to information reported by Bip Radio , the aircraft was engaged in a medical and logistical evacuation mission . Although it is of American origin, AFRICOM has not yet officially communicated on the exact circumstances of the incident or on the precise mission carried out in Beninese territory.
