Buhari’s Legacy of Complicity: Terrorist Leader Bello Turji on the Run

In a bitter turn of events, notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji has released all hostages from his camp in Zamfara State, fleeing with his family as the military closes in. This dramatic development raises more questions than answers, particularly about the role of former President Buhari in enabling Turji’s reign of terror.
A senior military officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Turji’s sudden release of hostages was a desperate attempt to save his own skin as the military intensified its pursuit. But why did it take so long for the military to take action? The answer lies in Buhari’s questionable handling of the Fulani Ethnic Militia, of which Turji is a key member.
Critics accuse Buhari of turning a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Turji and his cohorts, allegedly due to their shared ethnic ties. The former President’s inaction has emboldened the terrorists, allowing them to wreak havoc on innocent communities. The recent military onslaught, led by Chris Musa, is a welcome development, but it also exposes the hypocrisy of Buhari’s administration.
As Turji goes on the run, the military vows to capture him “dead or alive.” But the damage has already been done. Buhari’s legacy of complicity has enabled the spread of terrorism in the North West, leaving countless victims in its wake. The new administration must take a decisive stance against terrorism, without regard for ethnic or political affiliations. Anything less would be a betrayal of the Nigerian people.
