IPOB And The Failure Of Leadership In Igbo Land
One thing we have failed to discuss is that it was because of the failure of the Igbo Elites, governors and Senators that forced Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to create IPOB.
Do you think Mazi Nnamdi Kanu would have created IPOB and requested for Biafra if Eastern Governors were addressing the marginalisation of Ndị Igbo and challenging the Nigerian government to the needful?
Do you think Mazi Nnamdi Kanu would have created ESN had it been the Southeast governors created a security group to battle Fulani herdsmen terrorists just like the leaders in Yoruba land did in those days?
Instead of creating a security group, the governors stated that the Army and Police were capable of protecting ndị Igbo from herdsmen. That’s when it is certain that the military under Buhari was compromised and protected the herdsmen. They even said that if herdsmen kill an Igbo man, they will pay 500k. This money is not even up to one cow. Can you believe it?
Almost every governor in the South East doesn’t believe Igbo land is marginalised. They don’t talk about it. They don’t talk about the dead traps we call Federal roads in South East. They side with the government all the time against their people.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu came and gave us hope. We listened to him and shed tears of joy. We say, at last, a voice has risen to speak for the downtrodden. We supported him and were ready to give anything, including our lives, for the liberation he came with. What these leaders can’t do for us, he did and still doing. During COVID-19, while your governors stole COVID-19 palliatives, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu shared rice worth millions.
Just like Ojukwu, who went into exile for the interest of ndị Igbo, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has done the same for us all. He has been in detention for committing no offence other than saying Nigeria let my people go. He demanded a referendum, and they got him arrested. Even when their court can’t jail him, the Nigerian government still hold him illegally. He is suffering for our sake. He has left his family, his children, his wife and his home just for us to gain freedom. In court, he said he is in prison to free us and not to kị̀ll us. He used this statement to warn those kị́lling and kidnapping our people. Mazi, in suffering, thinks of us and not himself. Tell me which governor can do this.
What are your governors doing?
They are looting every allocation that comes their way every month. They collude with the Federal Government to slaughter our people. They are puppets for the Fulani and whoever is ruling Nigeria.
The governors of Southeast had failed. And we have no trust in them.
One day Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be free. And his words will be stronger than even the governors in Igbo land. Go write it down.
