Despite facing hunger and security issues, the Ebonyi State government has shown remarkable commitment to religious inclusivity. Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved over ₦500 million to sponsor 46 prospective pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj.
This decision was made during a recent Executive Council meeting, emphasizing the state’s dedication to fostering peace and religious tolerance. Each beneficiary will receive sponsorship valued at approximately ₦8.78 million.
The government also encouraged local council chairmen to consider sponsoring one pilgrim from each area, promoting broader participation in this sacred journey.
