Peruvian President Dina Boluarte has called on the demonstrators to put an end to “violence”, inviting them to Casa de Pizarro, the seat of the Peruvian government, to discuss the reasons for their street protests.
“I extend again my hand and my open heart to sit down at a table and talk about the needs they are raising,” said Boluarte in a speech in which she was accompanied by her cabinet.
In this sense, the head of state reaffirmed that “this Executive” has “no other interest than to attend to the needs of the people”.
“I call the brothers and sisters who are still in the streets to reflect, let’s stop the unnecessary confrontation and let’s look at the country we want, with change and hope; let’s give a message of peace, of legal, political and social security so that investments and tourists come, we are a people of peace and development”, she asserted.

The Peruvian president thanked, in turn, the security forces for “protecting life, health and tranquility” in the cities where protests have taken place.
Likewise, Boluarte thanked those citizens “who are betting for peace and not for violence, who are betting to continue their normal lives, to go to work or study, within a society that walks in peace”.
On the other hand, he assured that his “ministers have the commitment to execute with transparency 100 percent of their budget at the end of the year”, condemning corruption and attending to the needs of local governments, according to a press release from the Presidency of Peru.
“Ministers are charged with having executed, by June of this year, between 50 and 60 percent of the budget,” with the goal of reaching the end of the year with the entire budget.
“The President of the Council of Ministers has the obligation to follow up on the work carried out by the ministers,” he added.
