Recall that on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) announced a ban on tricycles otherwise known as “Adaidaita Sahu”, saying that the action after providing 100 ultra-modern buses and 50 taxis that would be conveying passengers on the roads that are prohibited for the tricycle operators.

The ban, which took effect on Wednesday, had generated widespread condemnation of commuters in the state.

But while addressing a press conference Wednesday evening, the managing director of the Kano Road Transport Agency, KAROTA, Baffa Dan’agundi, said the ban had been lifted.

According to him, the public outcry that greeted the decision is also the reason for the suspension of the order.

“The government has heard the  outcry of the people, tricycle leaders and their riders.

“The state government revoked the ban following maturity shown by leadership of the association, which is very unlike them, as you will agree that they usually go on strike.

“At times they do things that are against law and order of the state when issues like this come up.

“This time around they behaved themselves and complied with the rules given to them,” he said.

Mr Babba-Dan’agundi said tricycle riders should continue to ply the roads along with the new buses provided by the state government.
