Innoson Group’s Head of Corporate Communications, Cornel Osigwe, has called for a thorough investigation into allegations of certificate forgery against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who was said to have falsely claimed to be the top scorer of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
In a post on his official Twitter account (@cornelosigwe), Osigwe expressed doubts about Ejikeme’s ability to manipulate her results, emphasising the need for a comprehensive inquiry.
He urged authorities to consider the circumstances and not unfairly target the less privileged.
Osigwe highlighted that Ejikeme was highly regarded by her school’s Principal as one of the brightest students.
He pointed out that her family couldn’t afford to pay for her WAEC and NECO Exams, questioning the motive behind manipulating her JAMB score.
He appealed to let the disadvantaged have a fair chance.
The examination board, in a statement released on Sunday evening, disclosed that Ejikeme manually inflated her UTME result from 249 to 362.
According to JAMB, it was alledged that she used this inflated score to secure a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors, with the Anambra state government planning to present the award before her deception was exposed.
