Enugu Governorship Election Tribunal: Mbah Pushes For Rerun, Victory In Sight For Edeoga.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has through his Lead Counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) gravitated towards a possible rerun as defeat looms in sight following the court’s admittance of all evidence to substantiate the certificate forgery case against him. Recall Mr Mbah was indicted in an NYSC certificate forgery scandal that could cut his governorship tenure short, a position the NYSC firmly maintains as they have insisted through the Director General of the scheme that Mbah’s result was not issued by the body.

Amongst other claims & counterclaims and prayers of Chijioke Edeoga the LP candidate who is seeking Mbah’s disqualification, the certificate forgery appears to be the one that finally delivers the gubernatorial mandate which many voters and election observers have asserted belonged to him following a controversial declaration of Peter Mbah as the Enugu Governorship election winner. Olanipekun has argued that NYSC certification is not a requirement for contesting the governorship election thus a disqualification of Mbah shouldn’t suffice since it is irrelevant after all. He further opined that a rerun seems more appropriate considering all the variables. Edeoga would have non of this as his lawyers are going for the jugular and seeking an outright disqualification.
