The United States has issued a global travel advisory, urging its citizens to exercise caution when traveling to various destinations worldwide. The advisory is in response to heightened tensions in several regions, particularly following the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The State Department has raised the travel advisories for countries such as Russia, China, North Korea, Israel, and Lebanon to the highest level. Non-emergency US government personnel and their family members have been authorized to leave these countries. The advisory is due to concerns about potential terrorist attacks, demonstrations, or violence targeting US citizens and interests.

African countries with the highest level of travel alerts (Level 4: Do not travel) include Niger, Libya, South Sudan, Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic. Nigeria falls under the third-tier caution alert (Reconsider travel).

Specific states in Nigeria, including Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Yobe, Kogi, and northern Adamawa, are to be avoided due to terrorism and kidnapping. Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers states (except Port Harcourt) are on the advisory list due to concerns about crime, kidnapping, and armed gangs. Although the entire country is under the third-tier travel advisory, these states have the highest alerts.
