Clashes in the swamp settlement of bakassai are comon. In April 2022

Black Marine, a militant group, parading as an arm wing of Biafra agitators, the Biafra National League (BnL) have reportedly claimed responsibility for the blowing up of two military gun boats early this morning.

The attack on the military Gunboats happened at Abana waterline community of Bakassi Peninsula. Abana is former headquarters of Bakassi.

It is not yet ascertained if the gun boats belong to Nigeria or Camerooon since both countries are still engaged in joint military patrols in the Gulf of Guinea.

A source close to the group who insisted on anonymity also indicated that a sailor and some oil workers were killed alongside the blasting of the gunboats which were parked near Abana.

It would be recalled that last week, a commander of the BnL was killed in his house in Idadeto area of Bakassi by Cameroonian forces, which act provoked the militant group.

The exact status of the national army in these areas remains sketchy as the Biafran separatist movement is not known to be strong in the Cross River and Akwa Ibom areas as there is resistance to the membership of a new republic given the past experience in Nigeria.Crosss River and Akwa Ibom being minorities areas are some of the most marginalised parts of Nigeria

Nigerian and Cameroonian military or police are yet to react on this
