BANDITS DEMAND LEVIES FROM FARMERS BEFORE ACCESSING FARM PRODUCE IN KADUNA STATE
The threat of banditry has led to the demand for levies from farmers in villages before they are allowed to harvest crops in Kaduna State.Farmers from Kidandan, Galadima, Angular Fala’u, and Kerawa villages send representatives to the bandit warlord and his associates before gaining access to their farms.
The demanded levies range from N70,000 to N100,000 before they can harvest their produce, and failure to comply may result in killing, abduction, or confiscation of their farm goods.However, the bandit warlords terrorizing residents in these villages include Buhari and his deputy, Gana’i, while the third in command is called Kwalameri. Their illegal activities could lead to food scarcity in the state as farmers flee to safer places if there is no prompt intervention from security forces.
