To soften the hardship brought by Tinubu’s Ecowas sanctions;Nigeriens to enjoy same price for power in 2024

The Nigerien government has taken an important decision to relieve the purchasing power of the population: the price of a kilowatt hour (Kwh) of electricity will remain unchanged for one year. This measure, effective from January 1, 2024, aims to protect consumers from the effects of rising oil prices and the embargo imposed by ECOWAS. Despite economic difficulties, the government has chosen not to increase the price of electricity. This decision reflects the desire of the transitional authorities to fight against the high cost of living and to support the purchasing power of households.
