Ishaya Markus, aged 35, was arrested for fatally stabbing the deceased by the Adamawa State Police Command.

The Global News learnt that the confrontation leading to Albert’s death took place on Sunday in Fufore Local Government Area, where Franchise and his 20-year-old wife, Libiyatu, resided.

Sources acquainted with the couple mentioned that they had been experiencing problems since 2022 when Libiyatu allegedly began an affair with Markus.

Albert reportedly warned both his wife and the suspect to cease their relationship, but they disregarded his warnings.

In her confession to the police, Libiyatu stated, “My husband had warned us when he found out about what we were doing.

“He and I fought over the issue, as a result of which I left for my parents’ house.

“Ishaya (Markus) followed and took me into the bush and had an affair with me on five occasions.”

Libiyatu added that even after she resolved her issues with her husband and he asked her to return to her matrimonial home, Markus continued to pursue her until the deadly fight erupted between him and her husband.

On his part, Markus admitted to having had an affair with the late Albert’s wife and acknowledged killing him during a fight.

He said: “On that fateful day, I went to the community where the deceased and his wife live. I went there to take her out again, but I did not meet her.

“While I was returning home, I met the deceased and he asked me whether I had gone to see his wife again.

“A fight ensued in the course of argument, he pulled out his knife and I pulled out mine and we engaged in a bloody fight.

“He cut me in my hand and neck while I stabbed him in his stomach two times and by the neck, leading to his death.”

SP Suleiman Nguroje, Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, while confirming the incident said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had ordered full investigation into the matter.

Nguroje assured that proper prosecution of the suspect would follow to get to the logical end of the matter.
