Amidst the myriad economic challenges and escalating insecurity threatening Igbo-speaking states, the 2024 IGBO EASTER RETREAT, themed ‘NWALITE, IWULITE NA IDI NOTU ALAIGBO’ (Towards Building a New Igbo Nation), stands poised to unfold in Asaba, Delta State from March 30 to April 2, 2024. A statement by the Chairman, 2024 IGBO EASTER RETREAT National Planning Committee, DR (Diokpa) Saint Chukwuola Dike, said the landmark gathering seeks to chart a new course for a revitalized Igbo identity, marking a pivotal moment in our collective history. According to the statement, “The core objective of this gathering is to forge immediate solutions towards the establishment of a ‘NEW IGBO NATION’, crafted through a synergy of enlightenment initiatives and the united efforts of all Igbo individuals, both within our homeland and across the diaspora. “Central to our focus are themes of industrialization, resource development, the innovative ‘IGBO LIGHTS PROJECTS’, and the resounding call to action for ‘THINK HOME INVESTMENTS’ campaigns.
“With a profound emphasis on preserving and promoting the rich Igbo language and cultural heritage, the retreat will deliberate on pressing matters such as advocating for state police, advocating for restructuring, and the strategic planning for the election of a President General in 2025 from Rivers State, a significant milestone towards our visionary goal of unity and progress. “Distinguished keynote speakers, including Prof. Nwokojie Ambrose (Cornell University Texas USA), Prof. Thomas Ella(Yale University USA), and Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro (Secretary General Ohanaeze Ndigbo) will illuminate our path forward, aided by the esteemed Chairmanship of RT HON ARC PETER U UZOANYA and PROF CHUKWUEMEKA ANANAMBA. “This prestigious event will also host illustrious guests, including Igbo Governors, the Governors of Delta and Rivers States, and the esteemed presence of HE Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President and Commander in Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Inscribed under the seal of DR (Diokpa) Saint Chukwuola Dike, Chairman of the 2024 IGBO EASTER RETREAT National Planning Committee, this clarion call beckons upon every Igbo son and daughter to converge in Asaba, to partake in this defining moment as we march steadfastly towards the dawn of a reinvigorated and empowered ‘NEW IGBO NATION
