It described the report as “fake news” being peddled around by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to gain the attention of well-meaning Nigerians.

Reacting, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the fake news was part of the propaganda being used as their tactic.

He said, “I have contacted Headquarters 82 Division, in which area of responsibility Anambra State falls and information reaching me is that It’s a fallacy. Clearly IPOB/ ESN propaganda.

Earlier, troops of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with personnel from Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps neutralised a notorious IPOB commander known as Tochukwu, alias Ojoto, and two others.

They were killed during a special clearance operation across the general areas of Udda, Ihiteukwa, and Orsumoghu, along the borders of Orsu and Ihiala local government areas of Imo and Anambra states, respectively.
