Nigerian Senators debate citizenship of cows (video)

COMRADES, there was a mild drama at the senate during their plenary when senator Titus Zam from Benue State brought a motion banning opened grazing in Nigeria, however, senator Adamu Alero from Kebbi State countered the motion by citing a certain section of the ECOWAS charter which allows freedom of movement persons/ citizens from the member states

In a swift response, the senate president, senator Godswill Akpabio responded to Aleru’s argument that, the section of the ECOWAS protocol you’re quoting is referring to free movement of the citizens, but, ‘COWS ARE NOT CITIZENS OF NIGERIA’ because some of those cows are imported into Nigeria from other countries

But this argument from Akpabio didn’t go down well with the northern senators, immediately, the northern senators led by senator Lalong threw their support for senator Aleru and this led to a rowdy session between the southern and the northern senators, meanwhile, as the heated debate intensified, the deputy senate president, senator Jubril appealed to the senate president to suspend the motion for further consultation since the red chamber is divided at the moment
