The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on Igbos to return to the South East for Christmas, assuring them of a secure festive period under the protection of its Eastern Security Network (ESN).
In its message, IPOB portrayed the South East as a peaceful region with vast potential for growth and development.
The group urged Igbos to embrace this opportunity to reconnect with their roots and invest in the region, fostering economic progress and creating employment for the youth.
IPOB criticized the heavy security presence in the South East, accusing the government of exacerbating insecurity under the guise of maintaining order.
The group claimed that checkpoints manned by security operatives have become sites of extortion and harassment for travelers.
As part of its plans, IPOB reiterated that ESN operatives are working to rid the region of criminal elements, particularly during the festive season.
The group also encouraged residents to utilize ESN’s security channels for assistance, promising swift action against lawlessness.
IPOB called on Igbos to contribute to a prosperous and peaceful environment, emphasizing collective responsibility in making the South East a thriving economic hub in Africa.
