Ghana will have its next general election on 24th December, 2024. And the ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is seeking to be the first party to rule for more than 8 years, they are seeking to break cycle the of political parties being voted out after 8 years.
They call it “break the 8th”. Nana Addo has performed terribly in his 8 years in office and the NPP has lost the support of Ghanaians, so much so that the main opposition, the NDC, and the NPP have an equal number of people in parliament (a hung parliament)

of the NDC, is seeking to take over from Nana Addo and by all accounts, he is likely to win. Given the sorry state of Ghana’s economy and extremely high inflation, adding an unpopular war to the mix will mean certain defeat
for the NPP. Which is why Ghana’s President is currently hesitant in mobilising his troops. Reports are that Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast has already began mobilisation, but so far no instructions have been given to the Ghana Army to ready its troops.
