A Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) officer named Usman Gombe lost his life in an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Geidam town, Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State.
The attackers arrived at the Customs house in a Volkswagen Golf and a Land Rover around 10 p.m. on a Saturday and opened fire. During the attack, Usman Gombe was shot and killed as he attempted to climb over a fence to escape.
Additionally, the insurgents set fire to the customs patrol van, a generator, and part of the customs house building.
This incident marked the second time that Boko Haram insurgents had targeted customs officers, with a previous attack resulting in the abduction and subsequent killing of officers Babalola and his junior officer.
