I received news of the death of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN with deep grief and sadness.

Here was a man of courage, valiant and steadfast.

Committed to true federalism and good governance and saying the truth the way it is, always.

He rallied national support against terrorism and rose in defence of his people when it mattered most.

He affected lives the best way he knew how to, built an edifice in Ibadan for lawyers who couldn’t afford their own office spaces at the beginning of their legal practice.

He was instrumental to the attainment of peace in Ondo State, building a mosque for Moslems and also supporting Christians.

The events leading to his death give vent to the saying that man has no say in the determination of his exit on earth.

He fought the good fight of faith, trusting God for his healing and victory, but God knows best.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the good people of Ondo State, the legal profession and Nigeria at large.

Adieu, great Bar man, social crusader and lifter of the weak and vulnerable.

Nigeria has lost a rare gem.
