Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered security agencies in the state, including the local Ebubeagu Security Network, to kill anyone found with a gun or dangerous weaon.

This is contained in a statement issued by the governor on Tuesday, through the state information commissioner, Barr. Uchenna Orji.

The directive may be connected with the recent attacks by hoodlums in Abakaliki, the state capital.

SaharaReporters had reported that hoodlums wielding sophisticated weapons, said to be enforcing sit-at-home, stormed the state capital and shot sporadically. The hoodlums were said to have invaded the area and disrupted commercial activities, forcing residents to scamper to safety.

According to the statement, the state government directed security agencies in the state as well as members of the Ebubeagu Security Network to constantly patrol the capital city and other areas in the state.

The statement reads, “The state reiterates its unflinching commitment to the security of lives and properties of the inhabitants of the state and therefore directed all security agencies and Ebubeagu Security Outfit to neutralise any miscreant found with a gun and/or dangerous weapon in the state.”
